ICPA's External Prison Oversight and Human Rights Newsletter

ICPA network on External Prison Oversight and Human Rights, published its 9th newsletter, titled, External Oversight and Women in Places of Detention.

This issue highlights some of the major challenges faced by incarcerated women including body searches, reproductive healthcare, how the pandemic affected women in custody, and the limits of prison oversight in addressing the rights of women.

Andreea Lachsz, ACT National Preventive Mechanism Coordination Director, and Pip Courtney-Bailey, ACT OICS Assistant Inspector, contributed an article to this edition titled Preventing the Torture and Ill-Treatment of Incarcerated Women: A Spotlight on Reproductive Healthcare.
