Australian Human Rights Commission OPCAT Consultation

The ACT Inspector of Correctional Services made a submission to the Australian Human Rights Commission's community consultation on how OPCAT could be implemented in Australia. The submission can be viewed here.

On 15 December, 2017 the Commonwealth Government ratified the Optional Protocol to the Convention Against Torture (OPCAT), a human rights treaty that requires States to regularly monitor places of detention.
