ACT Custodial Inspector appears before ATSIEB

ACT Custodial Inspector Rebecca Minty and Deputy Inspector Sean Costello appeared before the ACT Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Elected Body (ATSIEB) for the first time on Tuesday, 25 August, as part of the Elected Body's annual public hearings. The hearings provide an opportunity for ATSIEB members to hold ACT Government agencies accountable for how they deliver programs, services and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, while highlighting community priorities and concerns.

Discussions focused on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander experiences in custody, the Office's inspection and review activities, and the importance of working with the local Aboriginal community to support transparency, accountability and meaningful reform across the justice system.
