Assault of a detainee at the Alexander Maconochie Centre on 5 December 2019

This critical incident review examined the assault of a male detainee at the Alexander Maconochie Centre that required the victim to be admitted to hospital. Overall, the review found that the assault was not reasonably foreseeable by ACT Corrective Services. The review made nine findings and one recommendation that relates to ensuring all required notifications, such as to the detainee's next of kin, are made and recorded.
