Assault of a detainee at the Alexander Maconochie Centre on 1 January 2019

This critical incident review examined the assault of a male detainee at the Alexander Maconochie Centre that required the hospitalisation of the victim. Overall, the review found that the assault was not reasonably foreseeable by ACT Corrective Services. The review made seven findings and three recommendations. The recommendations address concerns about shared cell risk assessments and post-incident segregation.
